We're excited to announce the launch of the German Low-Cost Internet Exchange (GL-IX) at our colocation in Düsseldorf, Germany. At Gentlent, we are working to focus on connectivity and innovation, and the establishment of GL-IX is a significant milestone towards achieving this goal.
What is GL-IX?
GL-IX, or the German Low-Cost Internet Exchange, is a new initiative by Gentlent to support cost-effective and open peering among networks. This platform is designed not only for established players but heavily focussed on small and emerging BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) users who are looking to expand their reach without the hefty price tag typically associated with high-capacity internet exchanges.
Why Düsseldorf?
Choosing Düsseldorf for our first colocation site was strategic. The city is a growing tech hub in Germany, making it a perfect location to bridge various networks. Its central position in Europe also enhances its accessibility for our international peers, providing them an excellent point of connection.
Features and Benefits of GL-IX
- Cost-Effective Peering: We offer both free and low-cost peering options, making it accessible for organizations of all sizes.
- Physical and Virtual Connections: Participants can choose between physical connections at our Düsseldorf colocation or virtual peering from anywhere in the world.
- Support for All Levels of BGP Users: Whether you are just starting out or looking to expand your existing capabilities, GL-IX is designed to accommodate your needs.
Join Us!
We are already connecting our first peers and invite others interested in expanding their network capabilities affordably and efficiently to join us. GL-IX is not just an internet exchange; it's a community aimed at democratizing internet access and enhancing connectivity across borders.
